Person of Interest canceled by CBS (official), no season 6

With the premiere date finally announced for Person of Interest: Season 5, IGN can confirm that this will indeed be the final season for the ever-cool and compelling series.

Person of Interest's season premiere airs Tuesday, May 3rd at 10:00pm ET/PT. After the premiere, POI will air new episodes twice a week â€" on both Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:00pm, beginning with a new episode on Monday, May 9th. Season 5 is comprised of thirteen episodes in total.

Said Person of Interest executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman, in a statement to IGN about the show's conclusion:

"We're extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans â€" the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter."

The upcoming shortened season 5 will be the last of Person of Interest season on CBS

"Michael Emerson (Harold Finch) has confirmed the CBS cancellation of Person of Interest after Season 5.

Speaking at New York Comic-Con, the actor said the upcoming 13-episode fifth season will indeed be the last on CBS, though, as previously noted, he holds out hope that another outlet will resurrect the show for Season 6.

It had been hoped that an upturn in ratings, spurred in part by the show's recent release on Netflix, could persuade the CBS powers that be to keep POI for Season 6.

However, judging by Emerson's comments, minds have already been made up â€" though as you might expect, CBS has yet to make an official announcement.

Of course, things can change and given that Season 5 is likely to leave the story open to some extent, there's still the possibility that Netflix or another platform could save the day. Stay tuned…"
