Billions trailer | 2016-01-19 by thepoperope | Billions | discuss | | BILLIONS is a bold, contemporary drama that melds the worlds of ultra-wealth, influence and corruption as personified in two highly ambitious opposing figures: hard-charging, blue-blooded, politically connected U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) and brilliant, calculating, blue-collar billionaire hedge fund king, Bobby "Axe" Axelrod (Lewis). Set amongst the Machiavellian machinations of New York City power politics and finance, BILLIONS weaves a complex, intricate narrative featuring a high-stakes game of predator-versus-prey. Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad also star. The pilot was directed by acclaimed director Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Divergent), who also serves as an executive producer.
The new SHOWTIME drama series BILLIONS will premiere Sunday, January 17th at 10PM ET/PT on-air, On Demand and over the internet. Starring Oscar® nominee and Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Paul Giamatti (John Adams) and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis (Homeland), BILLIONS is a 21st-century examination of the profit and peril of chasing the American dream. BILLIONS is written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean's Thirteen, Rounders), and Andrew Ross Sorkin (Too Big To Fail).

| X-Files re-opened | 2015-12-30 by thepoperope | The X-Files | discuss | | "The truth is out there… and we've got the inside story on the thrilling return of The X-Files. Go behind the scenes with Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and all the key players as they reveal secrets from the set and take you on the epic journey of bringing this classic series back to Fox."
"Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES is a thrilling, six-episode event series from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI ASST. DIR. WALTER SKINNER, Mulder and Scully's boss, who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. THE X-FILES debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). The upcoming event series will encompass a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show's seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. The all-new episodes will feature appearances by guest stars, including Joel McHale ("Community"), Robbie Amell ("The Flash"), Lauren Ambrose ("Dig," "Six Feet Under"), Annabeth Gish ("The Bridge"), Annet Mahendru ("The Americans"), Rhys Darby ("Flight of the Conchords"), Kumail Nanjiani ("Silicon Valley") and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as "Cigarette Smoking Man." Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong." |

| Peter Capaldi suggests his third season might be his last | 2015-12-28 by thepoperope | Doctor Who | discuss | | Now that the Doctor Who Christmas special, "The Husbands of River Song," has come and gone, fans of the long-running British science fiction television show will have to wait quite awhile before the tenth series arrives in late 2016. The search for a new companion is on, but that's not the only cast member who could need replacing. That's according to the Twelfth Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi, who told the Telegraph that his third year playing the character might be his last:
"This could be my final year. I love Doctor Who but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over. But I knew that when I started. I was thinking about my regeneration scene from the outset. That's my terrible melancholic nature. When you accept the job you know there'll come a day, inevitably, when you'll be saying goodbye."
"Every Doctor should be different from the last one. If you want exclusively young, sexy guys, to me that's not Doctor Who. You want occasional ones like that â" but then some other eccentrics. I always think that if you're Doctor Who, somebody somewhere's going to love you. That's comfort. But if people don't like me there'll be another one along in a minute. It's only Doctor Who â" and I say that with the greatest of respect and affection."
